Adventure Log 31.05.2026

Hello Internet! Mister and I are on another adventure and it has me thinking: it would be incredible to monetize travel content. I have seen what the internet collective has done for others and I am typically not the person to ask for contributions; rather be stubborn, save up and do things on my own. Creating content is enjoyable to me, from capturing photos or videos to editing and finding the right words to encompass an experience. I use social media to share different content formats, mostly photos on meta (Facebook, Insta) and videos on TikTok. I create all this content for free, currently. I’m curious if I could effectively monetize the lifestyle.

Our current adventure is treasure hunting because Mister discovered John Collins Black book titled There’s Treasure Inside and this hunt took us to the Appalachian Trail. From Louisiana we took two flights and drove to our destination near Lee, Massachusetts. Day One was a scouting hike, getting a lay of the land. The tall trees and cool breeze making them sway in the wind echoed like creaking doors. Steep inclines as we scaled up the mountain face had me very aware that I need more fitness in my life. We made it to our destination and explored a few possible treasure hiding areas before turning around to hike out of the dense forest back to our vehicle.

Day Two we approached from more level terrain and hiked to our destination from the opposite direction, being sure we covered the entire section of the AT he wanted to search. Mister did some grid searching. I was apprehensive with decaying debris on the forest floor and no walking stick to poke around, I didn’t want to fall in a hole. Most of my time was spent taking videos and photos from the trail. Unfortunately, no treasure box was found in the hunt. I did find motivation to attempt to monetize. These trips inspire me to write, to explore more and reach beyond what I’ve known. Dare I say, to live a life I love living. Each time we venture out, I am reminded of how much I enjoy wandering.

The entiretiy of my twenty’s and much of my thirty’s were spent moving from one place to another on a near yearly basis. At 17, I was enlisted in the US Army and traveling the world for Uncle Sam. Much of my moving then was running from experiences I wished I could forget. I was escaping in new experiences around the world, it only ever worked temporarily. After decades of therapy, I feel like I am experiencing the adventures, not escaping and that’s a big win for me. I would like to travel and share adventures more.

Alas, everything costs money in our world and I am a disabled veteran on a fixed income. Nevertheless, I’m challenging myself to earn $1,000 per month each month to see if I can find a sustainable way of maintaining a consistent source of additional income. Maybe from sponsors donating for me to travel (I can dream) or selling artwork, maybe doing freelance writing. Whatever I can do to have extra income and stay within my fiscal limits.

Speaking of those limits, I think it is utter bullshit that I, a disabled person, am restricted on earnings, else I can lose my financial safety net and health insurance, while literal trillionaires exist. Even if I manage to make more than $1,000 per month, I am still disabled. I’m not cured by having money, I can be accommodated better by having money. Yet, I’m limited? Bullshit. Mini-rant aside, I’m determined to thrive in this lifetime and in a captialist world, that requires cash. Wish me luck and if you’re feeling generous, send donations (linktree).

Note: please do not donate money you need to survive, I’m experimenting to see what happens, not in need of money. 💰
